Journal of today’s activities:
Two professors from SFSU accompanied me to Juvenile Hall in Santa Clara County. I left my house at 4:30 am to ensure that I would be in the Oakland area by 5:45. I picked up Professor Elizabeth Brown and Professor Amy Smith. Both of those scholars research innovative violence prevention programs and I asked them to accompany me so that they could watch me teach. By watching as I interacted with the young men who were proceeding through our program, I hoped that Professor Brown and Professor Smith would agreed to design a research instrument that would show the effectiveness of our Straight-A Guide as a cognitive skills development program. We strive to change the way people think, showing that they can work toward becoming law-abiding, contributing citizens. The photo shows me with Professor Smith, Professor Brown, and Dr. Angela Haick.
