Journal of today’s activities:
My commitment to building a career around my journey is taking a heavy toll on me. I began my work at 3:45 this morning. Now it’s 4:53 and I need to get in the shower. I have a long drive to make it to El Dorado County for a 9:00 am meeting with the Probation Department there. The meeting will not take longer than 45 minutes. Then I need to drive back to my home. Then I’ll pack my clothes because Carole and I are flying to Seattle this evening. Before our flight, I’ll have to teach a class for 2.5 hours on the Bureau of Prisons’ custody and classification procedures. Our flight does not land in Seattle until after 11:00. The heavy driving schedule means that I could not run yesterday and I will not be able to run today. These hours are causing me to rethink the sustainability of this model.
