Journal of today’s activities:
Today I interviewed my friend Rich Folk, a former executive vice president for Wyndham Resorts. Rich and I grew up as close friends. He had the good sense to stay away from the bad decisions that I made during my early 20s. Rather than joining forces with me, Rich began a career selling vacation real estate and then he transitioned into the time-share real estate business. He became a leader with Trendwest. The Cendant corporation later acquired Trendwest, then rebranded itself under the Wyndham name. Rich and I spoke over the phone for nearly six hours. I asked questions and typed as he responded. I’ve recorded more than 6,500 words of notes that chronicled Rich’s rise from salesman to leader of a world-class organization that generated nearly $2 billion in annual revenues. I’ll Rich’s story to write a new version of the Straight-A Guide, one that teaches others how to reach exceptional levels of performance in their personal and professional lives.
