This morning I woke at 4:00 am. After showering and shaving, I put on my running gear and ran seven miles from the house to the office because I wanted to be the first one in. To build a great team, I must show those on the team that I will not ask them to do anything that I will not do. I spent the early morning working to refine the hiring process paperwork that I wrote yesterday. At 9:00, I walked from the sales floor over to the corporate office to receive training on our customer-relation management (CRM) program. We use the SalesForce application to track the thousands of leads that come into our office each week. Since I’ve systemized the hiring process, my next challenge is to build a methodical training program for the new hires who join our team. Today I trained on SalesForce so that I could begin writing a manual to train others how to use this robust system of tracking leads and converting those leads into customers.
