I’ve now been liberated from the Bureau of Prisons for more than 300 days. Each day in society gives me another reason to count my blessings. During the more than 26 years that I served, preparations for success filled me with high levels of energy and enthusiasm. Rather than dwelling on the challenges presented by the walls and cages that held me, I focused on the extraordinary life I envisioned building upon my release. Now I wake each morning and thank God for allowing me to live what was once a dream. I run on along the bike path of Newport Beach. Then I shower and begin work that I find extraordinarily fulfilling. What is that work? Well, I empower myself by teaching other people strategies to bring passion into their lives. It doesn’t matter whether I’m working to develop programs that teach people from at-risk populations or whether I’m working to teach these strategies to high-energy sales people. Every day brings new opportunities to contribute, and that is how I live my best life now.
