I’ve been working with a team from Hollywood that has an interest in working with me to create a film. Rather than profiling the bad decisions I made that led to my confinement, the team has an interest in creating a film that shows the strategies and tactics that guided my decisions inside. Despite the 26 years that I served, numerous opportunities opened for me in every prison where I served time. The film would show how those opportunities opened. In the end, the story would show that decisions we make lead us to the lives we live.
Certainly, I understand the complexities associated with bringing a film to market. In my case, the first steps include working an entertainment lawyer and a producer. The next step will require that I work with a publicist. Then we will strive to raise capital. By raising financial resources, we would hire a scriptwriter for the proposed film. Then we would use the script to raise additional resources to finance the film.
Now that I’m working so much, I don’t have much time to devote to this project. Thankfully, the professionals with whom I’m working provide me with clear instructions about what they need from me. I write in the very early mornings to help them understand the journey of my time inside and the time since my release. I appreciate the interest they’re taking in my story and I’m hopeful that we succeed in advancing the project to the next step. I’ll be doing more work on this project in the weeks to come.
