While in prison, I knew that I would some challenges learning about technology upon my release. I’d read a lot about technology. Yet reading about technology doesn’t necessarily prepare an individual to use technology. I began serving my prison sentence in 1987, before email, the Internet, or other types of technology that so many people take for granted. Since I’d read that Apple products were easier to learn, I purchased everything Apple. My wife gave me an iPhone the day that she picked me up. A few days later I purchased a MacBook Pro and an iMac. Since my return to society, I learned a lot about how to use Apple products. Yet now that I’m working in a corporate setting, I’m having to learn technology all over again. It seems that everyone in the corporate sector uses personal computers, and Microsoft products that differ from the Apple system. I feel as if I’m learning a new language. Fortunately, a team of IT experts are on staff to assist me when I’m lost.
