Today I am free. An email came across my computer screen with the following words in the subject line: YOU ARE DONE! The email included judicial orders indicating that a federal judge had authorized the early termination of my supervised release. I am now as free as I’ll ever be from the criminal justice system. I’m free to build my business. I’m free to travel. I’m free to build the career of my choice. I can’t even comprehend what liberty means. For decades I’ve been working to “Earn Freedom,” as I wrote in my books. Now freedom is here. I didn’t celebrate, as I have too much work to complete. In truth, I won’t feel free until Carole graduates with her master’s in nursing; she is scheduled to graduate next May. Until then, I’ll continue working seven days each week. That said, I’ll be able to work without having to worry about any interference from federal probation officers. In fact, as soon as I can get away from my office, I’ll find a location where I can go file an application to receive my passport. I’m ready for a trip to Sanctuary Belize!
