Today I took a lesson in using MailChimp. MailChimp may be helpful to my prison journal, and also to other ventures that I’m beginning, like PrisonProfessor.com. It’s a wonderful tool that will allow me to create newsletters that I can send to people who sign up to receive them. The webmaster who built my site installed a simple system to collect information from people who wanted to hear from me more frequently. I never developed a strategy on how to use the MailChimp service, but people continued to sign up to receive the newsletters. Now I have about 90 people signed up. I suspect they read writings that I post on my blog or on the various social media sites that I use. With MailChimp, I’ll be able to take a much more strategic approach in sending information to those who’d like to receive it. I may use it regularly with a different website that I intend to launch in the months to come.
