I ran more than 14 miles in the early morning. The goals that I’m determined to achieve require that I work seven days each week, as I’ve been recording in my prison journal. As a consequence of the responsibilities associated with the career I’m striving to build, I rarely get to run really long distances. If all goes well during the next year, I’ll be able adjust the number of hours and days that I devote to my work. I want to incorporate more exercise into my daily schedule. Until I reach some clearly defined goals that I’ve set, I’ll continue limiting myself to around 50 miles each week. While running the longer distance this morning, I realized how much I miss the solitude of being out on the road, with only the sound of my steps crunching rocks on the pavement to interrupt my thoughts. Tomorrow and Monday I expect to running long distances, but then I’ll have to scale back to runs of seven to eight miles before work.
