I wrote another lesson for the Prison Professor initiative I’m launching. In today’s lesson I wrote about Prison Classification Systems. I suspect that professional-type individuals who’ve been convicted of a federal crime will become the most active clients of Prison Professor. They may assume that since they don’t have any prior history with confinement that they’ll serve their entire sentence inside of a minimum-security camp. Unfortunately, administrators within the Bureau of Prisons may have a different perspective. The lessons that I’m writing will provide the guidance that individuals need to know in order to make the most informed decisions as they move forward. I’m a huge believer that individuals can empower themselves and make better decisions if they’re better educated about the challenges ahead. Prison Professor will offer lessons that empower people to navigate prison successfully, but also to succeed upon release.
