Michael works with the Michael G. Santos Foundation to offer the Straight-A Guide Cognitive Skills Development Program. This course teaches people who are vulnerable of problems with the criminal justice system how to
-
reject criminal lifestyles,
-
develop critical thinking skills, and
-
transform into law-abiding citizens.
Michael stands as living, breathing evidence of what the Straight-A Guide can accomplish with people in your care.
The Straight-A Guide program teaches essential skills and strategies necessary for living a law-abiding, contributing life.
Like many of the people in your institution, Michael was an at-risk youth. Bad decisions he made as a young man led to his serving 26 years in federal prisons of every security level. While incarcerated, principles of the Straight-A Guide taught him to reject a criminal lifestyle and begin working to reconcile with society. On August 12, 2013, his reentry began precisely as taxpayers should expect, with values, skills, and resources that translate into success.
The Michael G. Santos Foundation presents the Straight-A Guide Cognitive Skills Development Program through ten, separate, five-lesson modules that facilitators in institutions that work with offenders and at-risk youth can use to convey the empowering message. The cognitive skills program includes 50 videos and 50 separate lesson plans that teach offenders:
- how to develop communication skills and why those skills relate to success.
- how to develop self-directed learning techniques.
- how to develop critical thinking skills.
- how to reject criminal lifestyles and criminal associations.
Participants of the Straight-A Guide identify with the authenticity of the program because people who transformed their life while living in prison settings deliver the message.
Our ten modules begin with an overview. We follow with modules on values and then goals. Then we advance to the Straight-A Guide, with modules on
- Attitude
- Aspirations
- Actions
- Accountability
- Awareness
- Achievement, and
- Appreciation.
The combination of our videos, our books, and our lesson plans will help leaders in your facility influence transformational change. Contact Justin Paperny at The Michael G. Santos Foundation today to schedule an in-person presentation of our Straight-A Guide Cognitive Skills Development program. We’re so confident that offenders in your facility will embrace the message that we offer a 100 percent money back guarantee.
We look forward to supporting your efforts to prepare offenders for their reentry as contributing citizens.
