Today I traveled to a city San Dimas to make a presentation in one of LA County’s facilities for juveniles. It’s called Camp Rockey. Justin accompanied me for the presentation. Camp Rockey is the first institution in the Los Angeles County Office of Education to pilot our Straight-A Guide Cognitive Skills Development Course. A group of educators from Camp Rockey and other juvenile facilities were in attendance as I described my story and introduced the Straight-A Guide program. Those teachers will use our program as a resource to teach the young men strategies that will set them on a course to productive living. I’ll return to the facility in a couple of weeks to make a second presentation. On my next visit, I’ll speak with the young people who living in confinement. I’m hoping the presentation I make inspires the young men. If I succeed, they will embrace the Straight-A Guide and them begin making deliberate plans that will set them on the course to success.
